Teodoro Gregorio Perez was part of the team of great luthiers at the workshop of Jose Ramirez in the 1960s, where he worked for twenty-six years. A highly successful partnership with Mariano Tezanos followed, after which the two luthiers went their separate ways. The workmanship on Teodoro's instruments is outstanding, and their tone is characteristic of the best work of the Madrid luthiers.
This instrument is no exception - an absolutely wonderful example of a world-class instrument utilizing Madagascan rosewood, which is now being adopted by the Madrid school as a replacement for Brazilian rosewood. The spectacular tonewood in this instument seems to embody many of the best characteristics of both its Indian and Brazilian relatives, contributing to qualities of superb projection and a wonderfully rich but flexibly expressive voice.
The whole guitar is typical of Teodoro's best work. Meticulously finished in french polish and with a lovely rosette demanding a high degree of skill to construct, this instrument both looks and sounds beautiful.
