Alastair, whose career now spans more than four decades, has long been one of our very favourite luthiers. He is now at the absolute height of his powers and present output represents his very best. Workmanship has always been of the highest order and this is combined with fine musical qualities and carefully attended comfortable playability.
Santos Hernandez was the Spanish master of the first half of the twentieth century and foreman of Manuel Ramirez's worship in 1916, the year of the construction of Andres Segovia's guitar. This instrument, which is in really excellent condition, is Alastair's Santos Hernandez model and has been constructed after detailed study of a very fine 1925 Santos that we loaned to Alastair. From its beautiful proportions to the intricately detailed rosette this has all been faithfully replicated.
The Conde Hermanos Felipe V is a wonderful instrument. It sounds even better than it looks. I feel very lucky to have it in my collection.
Thank you so much.
