Vicente Camacho Spruce/CSA Rosewood 1989
Back and Sides South American Rosewood
Width at nut 51 mm
Scale length 65 cm
One of Spain's most distinguished luthiers, Vicente Camacho's guitars have been played by many professional artistes over the years. Vicente was apprenticed for 8 years to Modesto Borreguero, one of the famous assistants to Manuel Ramirez, after which he established his own workshop, finally retiring in the early 1990s.
On examining this instrument the one is struck by how well-maintained it is - it's necessary to look really closely to spot the very few small marks in the polish. The spruce and rosewood are very handsome and their quality superb.
On playing it, one is greeted with a strident, punchy bass and a colourful treble which is lively and fresh. The volume and projection are very good.
A fine concert guitar which has all the musical reserves of a new instrument.
The Conde Hermanos Felipe V is a wonderful instrument. It sounds even better than it looks. I feel very lucky to have it in my collection.
Thank you so much.
