Felipe Conde FP14-N
Back and Sides Indian Rosewood
Width at nut 51.5 mm
Scale length 65 cm
The Conde dynasty has produced a great many outstanding guitars over its varied history, and has established an impressive reputation - particularly in the Flamenco world - for its fine handmade concert guitars. It also can boast an excellent variety of more modestly-priced estudio instruments being designed under the umbrella of its experience.
This instrument is a very good example of the latter. Felipe Conde is now constructing and designing instruments in his own name at his Madrid workshop with his son and daughter as apprentices, continuing the family tradition. He himself has over 40 years of lutherie under his belt, having started out apprenticed to his father Mariano and uncle Faustino's workshop at the age of 14.
With a bright treble, clean sound and quick response, this 'negra' flamenco instrument has a slightly 'darker' tone colour than its cypress sibling.
"These guys are so easy to buy from! They still believe in providing a service. My new Raimundo is a treat to play and it arrived in a Hiscox case to the West of Ireland in two days."
