Teodoro Gregorio Perez was part of the team of great luthiers at the workshop of Jose Ramirez III in the 1960s and continued to work there for twenty-six years. A highly successful partnership with Mariano Tezanos followed, after which the two luthiers went their separate ways.
The workmanship on Teodoro’s instruments is outstanding, and their tone is characteristic of the very best work of the Madrid luthiers. With a smaller body, albeit normal scale length, this elegant instrument charms both with its sound and appearance. The very pretty rosette is complemented by the binding around the outer edges of the soundboard; the rosewood body is handsomely figured. The tone is open and sweet, with good separation and clarity, and excellent volume.
