Alastair, whose career now spans more than four decades, has long been one of our very favourite luthiers. He is now at the absolute height of his powers and present output represents his very best. Workmanship has always been of the highest order and this is combined with fine musical qualities and carefully attended comfortable playability.

This handsome example of Alastair’s work exhibits his usual meticulous and tasteful approach to build quality, being constructed with excellent-quality tonewoods. The treble is surprisingly bright for a cedar-top guitar, but this is not at the expense of warmth and sweetness, which are also present in abundance. The volume is impressive, without dominating the subtle variations of tone of which this instrument is capable.  Sweetness with good projection, balance and separation of colour are the general characteristics across the range of this superb concert guitar.
